Roberts Jackson Solicitors have been involved in this year’s Walk Ten event for Marie Curie Cancer Care. The Roberts Jackson employees took part in the charity walk at Tatton Park on Saturday night, walking a sponsored 10 kilometres around the scenic grounds, in order to raise money for Marie Curie.

The money raised will go towards funding vital cancer nurses who not only care for the terminally ill, but also provide advice and support for their families. Marie Curie asked each walker to try and raise £60 which would pay for three hours expert care from a nurse, whilst a further £120 could pay for a nurse’s entire shift.

The employees from Roberts Jackson have a personal reason for doing the charity walk, as on a daily basis the firm deal with a large amount of occupational cancer sufferers.

Gladys Swaim-Rutter, Executive Director of Roberts Jackson, said

“Marie Curie provide amazing support to cancer sufferers and are a vital source of information and support to families and friends affected by cancer. We know that many of our clients are supported by the wonderful Marie Curie nurses.

We decided to participate in this walk with the purpose of raising a little bit of money for the charity and soon found that we were inundated with support. By the time of the walk, we had raised over £1000, ten times the amount we had initially hoped to raise.

I would like to thank everyone who gave their time to participate in this event and also send a big thank you to the people who donated. The support we received has been overwhelming”.

The money raised for Marie Curie so far means that Roberts Jackson has paid for over five nurse shifts. Roberts Jackson and its employees will continue to try and raise more funds before the donation date of September
