Two Roberts Jackson Trainees Elected for positions with the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group
Roberts Jackson is delighted to announce that two of its Trainee Solicitors, Christina (Tina) Rees and Shalina Bhatia have been elected to represent the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group (MTSG). Tina has been named one of three social secretaries and Shalina has been awarded the joint position of Sport Secretary respectively.
Tina and Shalina have been dedicated members of the RJ team for a number of years and were recently awarded training contracts which highlights their level of dedication and legal knowledge.
The MTSG is a group which celebrates and encourages trainee solicitors across Manchester to join in social activities with each other, including sporting activitie,s launch parties and using social media to keep in touch with one another. The group comprises of trainees from a variety of firms across the region including Slater & Gordon, DWF solicitors and JMW Solicitors.
Tina’s responsibilities lie with the social aspect of the group and will be expected to locate and arrange the venues for each event, negotiate drink and food packages, arrange entertainment, liaise and meeting sponsors and other groups to ensure that the events will be memorable for all Manchester’s trainees and paralegals. Whilst Shalina will be in charge of organising the MTSG sports team; particularly MTSG Netball, arranging Fixtures and Tournaments with other professional organisations and arranging Sports Socials.
Tina has said “Being a Social Secretary for the MTSG will give me the opportunity to get to know many trainees, paralegals/Litigation Executives and newly qualified solicitors across the city. Working away from the city and not having studied in Manchester it is an exciting opportunity and challenge for me.”
Shalina has commented with the following “The MTSG Netball team is made up of trainees from all across Manchester so it a great way meet fellow trainees and network.
“I am very passionate about sports and have always taken an active role at organising sporting events and teams throughout my career.”
“The new season will start in September and I can’t wait get stuck in!”
This is a fantastic achievement for Shalina and Tina and one that they will be able to use to their advantage for years to come. However, this not the first time a Roberts Jackson trainee has tasted success at the early stages of their career. In 2013, highly regarded Roberts Jackson Solicitor, Leila Bridgett, won the Trainee Solicitor of the Year award at the Manchester Legal Awards.
