Claims Magazine Conference 2014
This year’s annual Claims Magazine Conference was held last week at Lancashire County Cricket Club and attracted the top figures from the UK’s personal injury legal sector. The aim of the conference is to ensure that employees of the claims industry, in whatever role, are kept abreast of a marketplace that is constantly changing. All important topics and changes within the industry were covered by a combination of keynote speakers and panel sessions.
There were a total of twenty speakers and panellists on the day including Ex Manchester Law Society president, Sucheet Amin, Owner of Injury Lawyers4U, Andrew Twambley and our very own Director, Karen Jackson who talked about growth in a changing and challenging market.
Kerry Underwood of Underwood Solicitors discussed the finer details of the LASPO changes by discussing ATE, Conditional Fee Agreements and Small Claims Limits and he has kindly uploaded his lecture notes to the Claims Magazine Conference website which can be found here. Other speakers who have provided their notes from the day include Susan Brown of Pro-legal Ltd and Alex Lowe of Google whose speech about technological advancements and how the legal sectors copes with the changes in technology went down very well.
With a complete mix of speakers from claimant and defendant solicitors to digital agencies and search engine power houses, the personal injury sector has made it quite clear that sharing knowledge and assisting each other at a time of change is the best approach for survival. The success of the day is a testament to the defiance that everyone involved in the personal injury/claims sector has shown to the changes so far. There is a way of making this work and finding the right balance is key to sustaining the future of this sector of law and events such as the Claims Magazine Conference are a huge step in the right direction.
Karen Jackson comments “The Claims Magazine Conference and other similar conferences help people consider their options and embrace change in a challenging market place.”
